On Tuesday evening we were privilaged to be visited by triple Olympic sailor Hannah Mills. Hannah won silver in London 2012, Gold in Rio 2016 & Gold in Japan 2020. She visited the club in her role as International Olympic Committee Sustainability Ambassador and has recently launched the Big Plastic Pledge, an athlete movement to change the way single use plastic is used in and beyond sport.
She is passionate about the environment and perfectly poised for the role having travelled the world seeing every single beach, marina and harbour littered with plastic. Hannah is now using her sporting background, network and platform to raise awareness, change behaviour and influence as many individuals, businesses and governments as possible.
Hannah visited the club accompanied by a BBC film crew to discuss Swansea Uplands RFC becoming the first sports club in Wales awarded for zero single use plastic products. The visit is to be shown on BBC 1 Wales Wednesday the 3rd of November at 22:35 on Wales Live. Hannah is pictured with a number of our senior players.
