1st XV

Saturday started sedately with attendees arriving at 12.30pm for pre match Green Room Hospitality.  They were treated to a tasty two course meal and the obligatory refreshments and witnessed tough encounter with the 1st XV going toe to toe with a strong Builth Wells squad. The visitors would have been the happier at half time with the score at 3 points to 13 a penalty from Mr Reliable Peter Anson accounting for the Uplands points.

Indeed, the 1st XV may well have been happy with a final score of 18 a piece on the final whistle five penalties from who else other than Peter Anson brought an end to proceedings. The boys left the field disappointed after a strong second half performance especially in the latter quarter which could have seen them pinch a victory. Pictured receiving his ND John Man of the Match bottle of fizz from team manager Wayne Jervis is Peter Anson.

A big thank you also to Saturdays match day sponsors Smiths Homes.

The Vikings

Unfortunately for the Vikings the score ended a very close 60-50 to Brighton Sea Serpents the hosts played an amazing game pushing the boys to their limit.

Coach’s comment: “Fantastic first game for the Vikings away in Brighton!” The team were stoic and showed great teamwork and consistency against a very strong and skilled home side. Despite our narrow loss of 60-50, we walk away with our heads held high and have learned a lot from the experience. We’re excited to return to training on Wednesday to focus on areas for improvement and continue building on our performance.
Special mention to the boys who made their debuts, stepping up to play rugby for the first time after only training this summer, and to those who took on new positions. Huge shout out to our new captain and vice-captain for leading the team through a successful first outing—long may we continue to grow and develop together!”

YouthTeam Manager Chris Ware reports:

Our Youth travelled to Gowerton were we played a physical match with our Harri Jones opening the score with a powerful drive over the line for 5 with Steff Davies adding the 2. Gowerton hit back straight away toeing the score before adding another 7 points just before half time. We were unlucky have a try held up on the line. HT 14-7. An arm wrestle was broken 10 minutes into the second half with another Gowerton try and conversion. 21-7. The lads dug deep and were rewarded with a fine try from Shinji Harris converted by Steff 21-14 with 10 mins to go. Again we were unlucky to be held up under the post for a certain 7 points. We lost favour with the ref in the last 7 minutes with 3 penalties against us that were struck cleanly over. Final score Gowerton 30 Swansea Uplands 14. A game a lot closer that the score shows and a game we should possibly have won.
