Last weekends results

1st XV  -  Who’d have put money on another draw game on the bounce for the 1st XV last Saturday but that’s exactly what happened.  In the last play of the game following in excess of ten minutes injury time Ystradgynlais crossed the whitewash & subsequently converted the try to bring the scores level at seventeen all.  Scorers for the Uplands were Daf Lewis, Rhyd Luckwell & Alex Wadling with Peter Anson adding a conversion. It's Cup action on Saturday for the boys who travel to Felinfoel RFC.

Surfs  -  The Surfs visited Mumbles RFC and came away 21 points to 38 winners. Surf coach Ian Lewis reported it was a really tight first half with both teams playing good rugby. Second half Surfs got a strong foot hold in the game excellently controlled by the half backs Liam Cherry and Joe Singh scoring some brilliant tries out wide. Foundations for the win as always was set up by the forwards with huge contributions by Brannigan, Winrow and Iestyn Jones who constantly carried over the gain line. Tries by Dan Ellesmere, Joe Slee, James Brannigan, Harry Lees & Joe Singh who also  added five conversions and a penalty. Next up on Saturday a home game against Llangennech.

Youth  - Team Manager Chris Ware reports: Swansea Uplands Youth, travelled to a very strong Gorseinon side, last Saturday. Gorseinon started very strongly going 14 nil ahead in the first 5 minutes. A very physical encounter. The team fought hard defending ferociously on their try line, a missed pass was read well by Evan Ware who caught it cleanly and dashed almost the length of the pitch before diving between the posts, chased hard by their wings. The reliable boot of Steff Davies securing the extra 2 points. On the stroke of half time Gorseinon claimed their third try. Half time the hosts leading 21-7. The second half again was a hard-fought battle, each side battling for every inch. A lovely bit of footwork from Steff Davies got us another 5 points in the corner a difficult conversion was inches wide. Gorseinon stole another 7 points rolling over with 10 minutes to go 28-12. Swansea Uplands dominated possession in the last 10 with the Gorseinon lads breathing hard. Josh Jones made a lovely break and stretched out to score just right of the posts, but the try was disallowed. At the final whistle the score stood at 28-12 to the hosts. It was an excellent and stoic performance from the lads in green the forwards fronted up and gave no ground winning many turnovers steeling line outs and were breaking many tackles. Our 9 and 10 distributed the ball cleanly and quickly freeing up our backs who made some lovely breaks turning the opposition inside and out. Everyone defended like lions. Well, done lads it was a heroic effort. We are very proud coaches. Next up a home game against neighbours Dunvant.

See you all on Saturday
