It was the second half defensive display from our 1st XV that was the deciding factor of the final score on Saturday afternoon when Vardre visited Fairwood Lane. The first half saw the visitors dominating the set pieces with conditions not allowing any free-flowing play on a damp & miserable day. The first points of the game coming just two minutes before the half time whistle with a great interception by scrum half Rhydian Luckwell who gratefully galloped to the visitors try line. Pete Anson added the conversion.
It was Vardre who struck first in the second half with a try, the conversion was unsuccessful bringing the score to 7-5 until a Peter Anson penalty 10-5. An Alex Wadling try two minutes later brought the score to 17-5 with the conversion by who else Mr Anson. Points exchanged with another Peter Anson penalty & a converted try by the visitors who continued wave after wave of attack on the home sides try line. The boys held firm in an outstanding display of defence only to secure the final points of the game with another penalty. Final score 23-12 huge squad performance in the second half with every man fronting up to gain the win. Next up for the 1sts a trip to Aberavon Green Stars on Saturday the 30th of November.
The Youth also at home in a friendly against Baglan followed up last weekends win with another by 31-14. Tries were scored by Josh Jones, Steff Davies, Harri Jones,& Ollie Phillpot, it's four wins on the bounce now for the squad. Next weekend the boys welcome Bryngors to Fairwood Lane in an Ospreys Cup game.
Unfortunately our under 14's lost their cup game. The boys played really well against a big South Gower side but ended up going down 12-24.
Have a great week.
