SURFS Thursday night rugby

Tomorrow night (Thursday 9th September) the SURFS welcome a Dunvant 2nd XV to Fairwood Lane with local bragging rights up for grabs. Kick off is at 7.00pm with the bar opening at 6.00pm for refreshments. SURFS squad will be selected from: -

Rhys Williams, Isaac Shadbolt, Josh Mapstone, Kyle Sawday, Jon Andrew, Morgan Drewson, Rhien Williams, Joe Slee, Jordan Williams, Sam Winrow Luke Evans, Ryan Roberts, Josh Williams Ioan Verhoeven, Iwan Coode, Joe Singh Sion Edmunds, Rhydian Luckwell, Dave Wisby, Ben Ghose, Alex Wadling, Peter Ansom, Alex Withers, Harri Lees.
 
Last weekend saw the 1st XV maintaining their 100%-win record in the WRU Bowl coming out 22-17 victors against a very competitive Vardre side. Points came from a well worked team try by Captain & Hooker Mike Evans & the boot of outside half Dan Bennett with 5 penalties and a conversion. Pictured is the ND John Man of the Match Ioan Verhoevan being presented with his bottle of fizz from Senior Team Manager Ashley Jenkins 
 
Two of our other senior sides were also at home taking on each other where the Vikings came out on top against the Gladiators the final score being 54-35.
 
Sunday saw the U15's welcome Caerphilly U15''s in an exciting game where those in attendance were treated to some slick skills from both teams which, eventually saw Uplands taking the spoils by 27 points to 5.
 
In other news we are sorry to report that DJ Williams & Robin Kirby are both currently in hospital being treated by our marvellous NHS. We send both club stalwarts our very best wishes & we look forward to seeing you back at Fairwood Lane soon. 
 
We also send our congratulations to our recently retired cleaning team, Anne & Vince Griffiths on this their 60th Wedding Anniversary. Well done Anne!
