On Saturday we held a surprise celebration for Ian Lewis to mark his outstanding achievement of making in excess of 500 senior appearances in 22 seasons for the Ups. First was a guard of honour for Ian as he ran out to make another of those appearances for the 1st XV against Pyle RFC. After the game Ian was joined by a gathering of his rugby colleagues for a quiet afternoon/evening of conversation with the odd refreshment being consumed. Ian was presented with a club blazer, personalised framed player profile & engraved plaque recognising his achievement. Tributes were paid with Mr Paul Beck Ian's long term partner in crime giving a very frank reflection on the man we know & admire (We believe they are still friends after this). A big thank you Ian from us all for your massive commitment & loyalty to the club, an outstanding achievement which is an example for many to aspire too. Pictured is Ian being presented with his plaque by Chairman Peter Evans & Senior Team Manager Ashley Jenkins.
